The Culture
A WORLD-RENOWNED FESTIVAL WITH A START-UP SPIRIT
Despite more than four decades of history and international recognition, WOMAD continues to operate with the creativity, curiosity and entrepreneurial energy that have defined it from the beginning.
WOMAD is a creative, collaborative and purpose-driven organisation. Ideas are welcomed, people are trusted to take ownership, and success comes through collective effort rather than hierarchy. Whilst the festival has a globally recognised reputation, there remains a willingness to challenge convention, embrace new thinking and continually evolve.
The festival is delivered by a small core team working alongside an experienced network of specialists, creative partners and long-standing collaborators. The incoming Festival Director will inherit a wealth of expertise and passion across programming, operations and audience experience, with the opportunity to bring people together around a shared vision for the future.
People who thrive at WOMAD tend to be curious, adaptable and motivated by purpose. They are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, enjoy collaborating with others and care deeply about creating meaningful experiences for audiences, artists and communities alike.
What connects people across the organisation is a belief in WOMAD’s mission. Many colleagues and partners have long-standing relationships with the festival because they genuinely believe in its cultural impact and the role it continues to play in bringing people together through music, creativity and global perspectives.
